Principal
April Benjamin
April Benjamin was appointed to lead Clausell Elementary as principal for the 2025-2026 school year. Mrs. Benjamin brings 18 years of dedicated service to Jackson Public Schools, where she has consistently demonstrated a passion for student success and instructional excellence. Her career began as a fourth-grade teacher at Bradley Elementary in 2007. Since then, she has served in various instructional and leadership roles including fourth- and fifth-grade teacher and team leader, Ask for More Arts collaborator, National Honor Society sponsor, K–5 instructional interventionist, site coordinator for JPS Afterschool, summer school principal, academic coach for Elementary Division II, and assistant principal.
A native of Jackson and proud JPS graduate, Mrs. Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Arts in Teaching from Mississippi College, and a Master of Education in School Leadership and Administration from Belhaven University.
Mrs. Benjamin is honored to serve as an instructional leader and looks forward to building a collaborative school culture rooted in high expectations, academic achievement, and strong relationships. She remains committed to empowering students, supporting educators, and engaging families to ensure success for every scholar.
